Description
Own a piece of Video Store History with this screen-accurate Ghostbusters flight suit. Originally produced as a trade show item by RCA Columbia Pictures Home Video to celebrate the film's debut on home video, this suit was acquired by Audio/Video Plus and repurposed to perform some ghostbusting of their own during an in-store promotion announcing the first release of Ghostbusters on VHS and Betamax. Pictured is the CWU 27/P style Flyer Coverall, which is hailed as the screen-accurate flight suit available. It features all pockets, adjustable waist and cuffs, and zipper expansions at the feet. The jumpsuit includes the branded/removable Audio/Video Plus patch that was used during the store's promotion. This licensed Ghostbusters flight suit has an embroidered RCA Columbia breast patch with the Ghostbusters logo on the sleeve. The heat transferred logo on the back is in near mint condition with no cracking or peeling. The RCA release flightsuit reads "I'm a Ghostbuster" under the logo. The suit is a Men's Size Large (approx. a 48 chest size with an adjustable waist). There are a few light stains but the suit can easily be cleaned.
This vintage VHS promo flightsuit is rare and is among the first produced for the film. Columbia Pictures would later capitalize on the franchise by releasing a generic "Ghostbusters" labeled suit without the RCA Columbia embroidered logo. Additionally, no other suit features a connection to Houston's first and longest surviving independent video store. Audio/Video Plus opened in 1979 and served Houston film collectors for 33 years finally closing in 2012. This Ghostbusters flight suit is one of many artifacts displaying Audio/Video Plus's community engagement through in-store promotional activity. More than just Ghostbusters collectible, this particular flightsuit is an historical artifact.
